Have passport (two, in fact), will travel. Nothing epitomises this more than the time I took a day trip to Vienna.
Now I'm back in Melbourne, even the thought of a day trip to Geelong seems a stretch too far (sorry Mum & Dad). But when I was in London, it seemed perfectly acceptable to visit Vienna for the day, just to catch the last weekend of an Olafur Eliasson exhibition at the Winterpalais (baroque architecture never looked so good).
I recently missed Eliasson's collaboration with Wayne McGregor and Jamie XX, Tree of Codes at the Melbourne Festival. To say I'm sad I missed out, is an understatement (currently investigating a (day)trip to Sydney to see it)! If you've never experienced Eliasson's use (manipulation) of light, you need to, it's wondrous. Basically, the day trip to Vienna was more than worth it, and that's before I'd eaten a Wiener schnitzel.
A day in Vienna (ie. one Wiener schnitzel) certainly wasn't enough, so I will no doubt be back, it's just a matter of when... L x
No filter on any of these photos... that mono-frequency light - crazy stuff!
I've always been a fan of kaleidoscopes... they're even better when they're life size.
A DAY IN VIENNA
Visit to Schloß Schönbrunn (my cousin Sarah jokes that her wedding will be at the palace).
Check out the Belvedere for the great exhibitions they have on.
